Video: Goalkeeper in Iran grabs assist with possibly the best throw-out ever seen

We’re not sure we could even kick the ball that far. What a throw!

As well as stopping shots, dealing with crosses and commanding the penalty area, goalkeepers are often the instigators of counter attacks these days and we don’t think we’ve ever seen a better demonstration of just that than from a game in Iran at the weekend.

In the eagerly anticipated clash between Naft Tehran and Tractor Sazi (don’t tell us you weren’t watching) Tehran ‘keeper Alireza Beiranvand caught an opposition cross and after making some room for himself, he proceeded to launch the ball downfield with one of the most powerful throw-outs ever seen.

Thankfully, his demonstration of his physical prowess was rewarded as team-mate Gholamreza Rezaei lashed the ball to the net from around 40 yards out to complete one of the fastest and most efficient counter-attacks ever witnessed (skip to 2:10 in the video below).

Seriously, what about that throw though? The man must have Popeye-sized biceps on him to be able to do something like that.
