Israel Dagg and the Crusaders lost the Super XV semi-final to the Chiefs earlier today but he did score the try of the night with a brilliant solo effort in the second half.
Irish rugby fans know all too well what Israel Dagg is capable of having suffered in his hands in the past and he proved equally elusive to the Chiefs defence during a moment of magic in the Super XV semi-final in Hamilton today.
With the Crusaders trailing 20-9 midway through the second half, Dagg received the ball outside the 22 and facing a packed Chiefs defence, he threw a few shapes to elude numerous attempted tackles and touched down in the corner to give his side a fighting chance.
Despite getting within a point in the end, Dan Carter missed a drop goal opportunity to complete a comeback for the Crusaders and it is the Chiefs who will face the winners of the Bulls and the Brumbies in Hamilton next weekend.
