In light of Rob Heffernan’s outstanding gold medal in the World Championships in Moscow yesterday, RTE’s Hector O hEochagáin has called on the Irish public to ‘Do The Heff’.
The Cork man put in an outstanding performance in the 50km walk race, finishing 62 seconds ahead of second place and has propelled the sport into the limelight.
The 2FM presenter has called on people on their way to work to dispense with their normal walk for something a bit livelier and fitting to the exploits of our new world champion, and he has got the ball rolling himself.

The Corkman is still coming to terms with his incredible feat and appeared on BBC this morning for an interview with his better half Marian, where he jokingly said that he is getting more respect in his hotel than fellow guest Usain Bolt.
Heady times indeed for the athlete.
