Video: Highlights from a thrilling All-Blacks victory over Australia today

84 points, seven tries and plenty more thrills and spills in a game that apparently didn’t matter all that much. Somebody should have told the two teams involved.

The rugby season is still getting going in these parts but the southern hemisphere has provided some rip-roaring rugby of late in the Rugby Championship and today’s meeting between the All-Blacks and the Wallabies in Dunedin didn’t disappoint.

In what has become a depressingly familiar theme for their opponents, the All-Blacks won again despite having already won the tournament, but they were made work for their victory by a spirited Aussie outfit, for whom the mercurial Quade Cooper had one of his better days.

Julian Savea, Sam Cane, Aaron Cruden and Kieran Read all touched down for the hosts (Cruden’s effort in particular was a beaut), with Adam Ashley-Cooper, Matt Toomua and Tevita Kuridrani replying with tries for the Wallabies as New Zealand emerged as 41-33 winners after a thoroughly entertaining contest.

A great effort by both sides and hopefully they’ve tired themselves out just a little bit before making the trip to Ireland for the November series next month.
