Video: How was this goal given in Belgium when the ball didn’t even nearly cross the line?

The case for goal-line technology at all levels of football was further enhanced by the ridiculous awarding of a goal for this shot in the Belgian league over the weekend.

Genk beat Lierse 2-0 over the weekend in Belgium, but the second goal for Genk should never have stood.

Even in real-time, it doesn’t look over the line and to see that it was awarded as a goal is just baffling. A ridiculous decision. Even the player who struck the shot didn’t even claim a goal and looked surprised when he saw that it had been given.

You could say Genk got lucky with a gank decision.
