Video: Irish Dancing man at Rob Heffernan’s homecoming was nearly as popular as Heffernan himself

Rob Heffernan was deservedly given a hero’s welcome on his return home to Cork last night, but he nearly had his thunder stolen by a very enthusiastic Irish dancing man.

Rob Heffernan was deservedly given a hero’s welcome on his return home to Cork last night, but he nearly had his thunder stolen by a very enthusiastic Irish dancing man.

A huge crowd of locals gathered in Cork to welcome home a man who became only the third Irish athlete to win a World Championship gold medal and who has captured the hearts and minds of us all over the past few days.

Amongst the crowd in the city was a very, very enthusiastic Irish dancing man, who couldn’t resist the sound of the Riverdance music and began to bust a few moves to huge acclaim from the audience present.

We could argue that ‘doing the Heff’ might have been a more appropriate tribute under the circumstances but you can’t fault the guy for effort.

Hat-tip to Cork’s Red FM for sending this one into us
