Were you at the Rugby World Cup in 2011 by any chance? Then keep an eye out because you might just spot yourself here.

We’re biased, of course, but we can remember our own fans making arguably the biggest impression of all the visiting supporters at the tournament in New Zealand and our friend in Rugby HQ, Sean Maloney, appears to agree having included us in this week’s edition of his always excellent top five series, ‘Fans gone wild’.

Thanks to dressing up as polar bears, in Borat mankinis and in togas, Irish fans at the tournament got in at number five this week along with a quite eclectic bunch, including arguably the biggest belly ever seen at a sporting event (that’s right, worse than Newcastle’s Jimmy Five Bellies), a fan who knocked himself out while trying to tackle a Springbok kicker and the best tackle by a mascot on a pitch invader you’ll ever see.

Great stuff as usual Sean, but any chance you want to explain that excuse for an Irish accent?
