VIDEO: Irish students build a device that allows a paralysed rugby player to write again

Carl Kinsella

The device also plucks heartstrings.

Donal O’Flynn was paralysed at the age of 16 while playing rugby for his school. Since then, he has been confined to a wheelchair, with very limited use of his hands.

A group of students from NCAD got in touch with Donal to see if they could work together to help Donal write again – something he hasn’t been able to do for fifteen years.

We won’t give it all away, but we will warn you that the video below is three minutes of pure tear-jerkery.
