Jason McAteer was in Dublin today and we sent Eric Lalor along to have a chat with him.

Jason McAteer is an Irish footballing legend, there are no two ways about it. Maybe not the most talented footballer to ever don the green jersey, but certainly one who gave nothing less than 100 per cent when representing Ireland. He’ll always be remembered for that goal against Louis van Gaal’s Holland in Lansdowne Road which helped us qualify for the World Cup in 2002. A goal which, he says, changed his life forever.

We asked him about Liverpool, a club close to his heart, and how they would cope with the loss of a certain Uruguayan centre-forward. Is it possible to replace someone that good? Jason also told us about a recent new arrival in the McAteer household.

Jason was in Dublin to launch Vodafone Ireland’s new partnership with SkySports. For more information on the sports available and pricing packages visit www.vodafone.ie
