Ireland are RBS 6 Nations champions after beating France 22-20 in Paris on Saturday evening.

It was a nerve-wracking finale for Joe Schmidt, Brian O’Driscoll et al after Damien Chouly’s late try was ruled out through the TMO.

He adjudged that the ball had been played forward, and Ireland just about saw out the victory.

After two early penalties from Maxime Machenaud, Jonathan Sexton drove over the line for Ireland magnificently.

Andrew Trimble gave Ireland the lead shortly afterwards, only to see an acrobatic effort from Brice Dulin help France to inch ahead.

After Sexton missed an easy penalty on the stroke of half-time, Brian O’Driscoll drove forward and Sexton picked up the scraps before grounding the ball.

Dimitri Szarzewsi’s try at the base of the post left just two points in it, but Ireland had the character to hold out.
