Congratulations are in order this morning for 88 athletes from 23 counties who have been selected to represent Ireland at the 2015 Special Olympics World Summer Games.

This year, the World Games take place from July 23 – August 2 in the iconic city of Los Angeles, USA.

Team Ireland will join 7,000 Special Olympics athletes from 177 countries for the Games which promise to be one of the sporting highlights of this year.

Team Ireland will compete in 12 sports: aquatics, athletics, badminton, basketball, bocce, bowling, equestrian, football (5 & 11-a-side), golf, gymnastics, kayaking and table tennis.

Speaking about the ‘Be A Champion’ video above, Special Olympics Ireland said: “Produced by Atomic Sport, the ‘Be A Champion’ video, celebrates the unique talents of Special Olympics athletes and is part of the Irish Sport Council’s The Journey series.”
