Irish athletes David Gillick, Derval O’Rourke, Deirdre Ryan and Katie Taylor cast their eyes ahead to their prospects in the London Olympics next summer.
It hasn’t been the best of years for Irish athletes Derval O’Rourke or David Gillick. Injury prevented Gillick from an involvement in the World Championships, and while Cork native O’Rourke made it to the games, a late injury prevented her from making the start line.
O’Rourke is not wallowing in disappointment though. Together with Gillick, Deirdre Ryan and the one that many regard as Ireland’s leading medal hope, Katie Taylor, she has been sharing her thoughts on the build up to the London games in the wake of an announcement by ESB Electric Ireland that the energy supplier has become a sponsor of Team Ireland.
