The big Tel Aviv derby between Hapoel and Maccabi was abandoned due to concerns over safety…

Terrible scenes in Israel after Maccabi player Zahavi scored a penalty to equalise and celebrated in front of the Hapoel fans. This provoked one of their fans who ran on to the pitch to confront Zahavi. The player then obviously went to protect himself and the ref saw no option but to send him off.

This led to even more bedlam and the Maccabi players surrounded the ref demanding the decision to be overturned. The player remonstrated with his fellow team-mates to walk off the pitch with him.

The match resumed but stopped once again when Hapoel fans stormed the pitch to goad the Maccabi end, leading to more scuffles as security and stewards chased the pitch invaders. The match was eventually abandoned with the score tied at 1-1.

It’s not pretty…

The guy in the video with the bald head is none other than former Manchester United player Jordi Cruyff who is now the sporting director for Maccabi.

H/T to one.
