Video: Mayo man Pearce Hanley’s accent seems to have gone in the Graeme McDowell direction

It's certainly nothing we've heard in Ballaghaderreen before...

It’s certainly nothing we’ve heard in Ballaghaderreen before…

Ireland are currently in Australia preparing for this Saturday’s International Rules Series test against the Aussies in Perth.

Paul Earley’s side picked up an impressive win in their warm-up match against a VFL selection at the weekend, with the game finishing 100-27.

The GAA have posted a video of some short highlights of that game as well as interview clips with Cork’s Colm O’Neill and Mayo’s Pearce Hanley.

The stand out thing in the video for us is Pearce’s accent; it reminds us of a certain Northern Irish golfer named Graeme McDowell.

To be fair, Pearce has been away from home for quite a while now but we’re sure his childhood friends will wonder where his local Ballaghaderreen lilt has disappeared to.
