Sometimes the best ideas are the simplest…

Bank Holidays are usually slow, calm and relaxing days as people all around Ireland unwind from the long weekend and enjoy that rarest of things, a Monday lie-in.

This wasn’t the case for JOE reader Bertie McLoughlin though who unselfishly used his spare time to help raise funds for Mental Health Ireland. The GAA fan visited 59 club pitches in just over 13 hours across the Royal County.

Apparently the idea just came to him one day in the gym and he followed through with it on Monday, it seems Bertie likes to stay active.

Take a look as he visits the local clubs in Trim, Kildalkey, Longwood, Ballinabrackey , Slane and many more.

In numbers Bertie’s day breaks down in the following way;

651.7km travelled, 59 pitches visited with one from each club, 13 and a half hourson the road, 3 toilet stops, 1 chicken roll and 1/2 tank of diesel.

Fair play to you sir. If you’d like to donate to Bernard’s charity page, meanwhile, you can do so here.
