Video: Michael Meehan nearly replicated THAT goal against Cork on his return to club action at the weekend

The Caltra man might just have the most powerful shot in Gaelic Football…

The Caltra man might just have the most powerful shot in Gaelic Football…

Followers of Gaelic Football in Galway and throughout the country will have been pleased to hear of the return to action of Michael Meehan at the weekend.

One of the best forwards of the modern era announced that he was taking an injury-enforced break from the game earlier this year, but he returned to action for his club Caltra for a Championship clash with Salthill/Knocknacarra in Tuam Stadium on Saturday.

Caltra ended up losing out by a goal and will now have to contest a relegation play-off with Killererin but Meehan very nearly rescued it at the death when he struck a 14-yard free just as hard as he did for his amazing effort against Cork last year only to see it rattle off the angle of post and crossbar and away to safety.

Glad to see you back Michael, let’s hope you’re doing this kind of thing in Galway colours again real soon.

Hat-tip to Diarmaid Ó HAodha for sending this one our way
