It might not quite be on the same level as Maurice Fitzgerald’s famous effort, but it’s still ridiculously good.
Murphy was one of Donegal’s star performers in their Ulster Championship victory over Derry at Celtic Park yesterday, scoring four points in total as Jim McGuinness’ men ground out a three-point victory.
The pick of those four scores came early in the second half when Murphy landed a peach of a point from the side-line, which flew over the black spot with yards to spare after Murphy struck it as sweet as a nut from just inside the ’45.
McGuinness had a quick word with Murphy immediately prior to him taking the kick, which we imagine was along the lines of ‘Just stick it over the bar there Michael’, and it deservedly drew comparisons with Maurice Fitzgerald’s famous strike against Dublin in 2001, which we’re sure you won’t mind watching one more time.
