Phil Mickelson is without doubt one of the best golfers in the game, but yesterday he joined the rest of us mere mortals with a howler of a shot during his fourth round.
The 43 year-old has won 42 events on the PGA tour and has five majors to his name, but this weekend was one to forget for ‘Lefty’ as he carded his worst ever score in a PGA Championship, finishing on eight over and 22 shots behind the winner Jason Dufner.
Us amateurs are only painfully aware of hitting a number of horror shots during the course of a given round and for that reason we had to have a wry smile at this second shot on the par four 10th hole for Mickelson yesterday. Just one of those days.
We know how it feels Phil, we really do.
