One of the most exciting and dramatic finishes to a game of football happened in the game between Auburn and Alabama last night

The NCAA season so far has produced some spectacular moments, and if there’s one team that seems to be repeatedly pulling rabbits out of hats in the last minute, it’s Auburn.

Once again last night with the game tied at the end of normal time in the Iron Bowl against the number one ranked Alabama, a long field goal attempt of 57 yards falls short, where Chris Davis of Auburn was waiting for the ball, just in case.

That turned out to be a pretty good plan, as he managed to return the ball 109 yards for a touchdown, with no time left on the clock giving Auburn the most unbelievable win. Again.

It’s safe to describe the resulting scenes as absolute pandemonium, as the home crowd can barely believe what they’re seeing. Taking a leaf out of the GAA supporters handbook, they invade the field afterwards, which made for a pretty spectacular photo, too.

This keeps the Tigers in the hunt for the BCS championship, but scuppers the hopes of favourites Alabama for a third title in four years. After the game, Davis told CBS that this Auburn side were a team “of destiny” and that “we won’t take no for an answer”. Hard to disagree with him given their hugely dramatic season so far, and we’ll be waiting to see if they can top this moment with more drama before the season is over.

One commentator was pretty happy with the play, so we suspect that he may well have been an Auburn fan. Just a hunch though.

This tweet from the lads at Bleacher Report perhaps best sums up how most people felt after watching that play. What more can we say?
