Darragh Leader has a foot like a traction engine, and he used it to break Rotherham’s hearts in the British and Irish Cup.

The British and Irish Cup doesn’t get a whole lot of coverage but one moment from last week’s round deserves your attention. Connacht’s second team, the Eagles, were playing Rotherham at the Sportsground, a team flying high in the Championship over there.

It was a close one, and Connacht fell behind with three minutes to go, 25-24. But all was not lost as Connacht were awarded a penalty on their own 10-metre line in the last minute. It was a tall order but up stepped full-back Darragh Leader who boomed it through the posts for the win.

Pretty cool nerves for a 20-year-old.

Thanks to O’Leary Insurance for the head up
