Sexton may need to work on his tackling a little bit…
Racing Metro took on Montpellier in the opening round of the French Top 14 on Friday night, with Racing emerging victorious thanks to the boot of Irish international Jonny Sexton.
Even though the Parisien side may have stolen the win by 19-16, Montpellier nearly scored a contender for try of the season largely due to the brilliant work of former All Black Rene Ranger.
Ranger breaks the line and holds Sexton at arm’s length as he runs towards the line, before off-loading beautifully and almost setting up Timoci Nagusa to score in the corner, but the winger puts his foot in touch while grounding the ball.
You can watch the video below but it will not make for pleasant viewing for Sexton, especially because the out-half is usually very solid in defence.
