Video: New Zealand cricket fan wins $100,000 thanks to this fantastic one-handed catch

Forget $100,000, he should nearly be given a professional contract after this.

If you’ve ever tried it, you’ll know that catching a cricket ball flying at high speed isn’t always the easiest or painless of tasks and it’s even harder to do it with just the one hand.

Knowing how difficult it can be, beer brand Tui probably felt fairly confident that no-one in the crowd would be claiming the NZ$100,000 prize they offered up for any fan in the crowd who could do just that during the one-day international between New Zealand and West Indies in Hamilton earlier today.

Tui also stipulated that the fan making the catch had to be wearing an orange Tui t-shirt, which the now flush with cash Michael Morton got for free when purchasing a six pack of Tui beer prior to the game.

If getting a free t-shirt wasn’t good enough, Morton’s day was made infinitely better when he made a spectacular one-handed catch to field a belter of a shot from West Indies batsman Kieran Powell, with the quality of both shot and catch arguably surpassed by the excited tones of the commentator, who seemed even happier about Morton winning the money than Morton himself.
