Video: Newstalk’s Off the Ball team take on the hurling crossbar challenge… with very mixed results

One take me arse!

Conor Heneghan

When a Mayo man is the only man to hit the crossbar in a hurling challenge, you know there’s something wrong.

The hurling crossbar challenge has been sweeping the country in recent weeks, with the likes of the Clare hurlers and Waterford hurlers showcasing their skills, having a bit of a laugh and raising money for a good cause.

It’s also given rise to one of the greatest hurling trickshots we’ve ever seen. Pa Walsh, take a bow.

Newstalk’s Off the Ball team decided to give it a whirl in aid of GOAL recently and it was something of a mixed bag, with only Mayo man Nathan Murphy managing to hit the bar, a man described (perhaps not unfairly) by Colm ‘Woolly’ Parkinson as having “the worst technique he’s ever seen”.

Technique or no technique, he hit the crossbar and at the end of the day that’s all that matters, right Nathan?

Your move, Sunday Game.
