Video: Nine-year-old Galway kid scores wonder goal to win cup final

With all eyes on Brazil and the World Cup, it’ll be hard to see a goal as good as this one from nine-year-old Matthew Thompson in the U10 Premier Cup Final at Deacy Park in Galway last weekend.

Matthew Thompson plays for Knocknacarra FC U10 and at the weekend they won the U10 Premier Cup in Deacy Park, Galway. Matthew scored goals in the quarter-final, semi-final and two goals in the final to help them win the Cup, so he is pretty nifty for a nine-year-old.

Matthew’s achievements will be recognised tonight as he is being presented with a jersey at half time during the Airtricity Division One game between Galway FC and Wexford Youths in Deacy Park.

Not bad, eh? Over to you Cristiano and Lionel……

Hat-tip to Jonathan Costello for sending us the story.
