Video: No wonder Spurs lost last night, they had their best player on the sideline

Do we hear whisperings of a player/manager role?

Do we hear whisperings of a player/manager role?

Tottenham suffered a disappointing loss at the hands of Chelsea last night and we are pretty sure we know the reason why; the manager isn’t playing his best player…

OK, so we may be pulling your leg a little but just have a look at this video from Spurs TV showing the Spurs players involved in some set-piece taking.

The players involved are England’s new saviour (apparently) Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen, Érik Lamela and the new young star on the block Mauricio Pochettino.*

While it couldn’t be said that any of the players do particularly bad, they are overshadowed by the manager, Pochettino, who steps up and hits the mark with ease at his first attempt just before the minute mark in the video.

Like a true sport he doesn’t gloat about the fact that he just schooled one of his best players…

It possibly wasn’t the best thing for the players’ confidence heading into last night’s game with the leaders…

*Is not actually young or new on the block.
