Video: On the day Eoin Quigley retires, bask in the wonder of his magic point in 2005

Has a better point ever been scored in Croke Park?

Has a better point ever been scored in Croke Park?

Wexford hurling saw another big name hang up their hurl with the news that Eoin Quigley has retired from the inter-county scene today.

Based in Cork in recent years, he was a member of the 2004 Leinster title winning Wexford side and after many loyal years of service, the 32-year-old will not be involved with the Model senior hurlers any more.

But one moment of magic by Quigley will live on long after his retirement. In the 2005 Leinster hurling final, against Kilkenny, Quigley scored one of the all time great points of recent years, an overhead volley from even further out than Zlatan.

A ridiculous score…

Enjoy your retirement Eoin.
