Video: Ouch! Canadian college football receiver runs straight into goalpost

Maybe sometimes you shouldn't keep your eye on the ball...

Eric Lalor

Run very fast, evade your marker, attempt to catch the ball in the end-zone, it’ll be grand they said…

University of Regina receiver Mitch Thompson ran into the end-zone to receive a throw from his quarter-back against the University of Manitoba, fumbled the pass and then could not stop himself from running head-first into the goalpost.

We are glad to report that Mitch did not suffer any serious injury and should be up and running into goalposts again very soon. Naturally enough, the Regina team are known as the Rams. Of course they are…

In fact we are glad he is okay because now we don’t feel bad criticising his attempt to catch it. It could be argued that he took the hit to deflect attention from the fumble. Perhaps it was his pride that was hurt and nothing physical.

Also, who was in charge of goalpost placement at that stadium?! There is tons of space further into the end-zone to place them.
