Does Padraig Harrington take any shots with his eyes open these days?

The three-time major winner shot a two-over-par 74 in the first round at Hoylake today so one might suggest that he would have been better off wearing a blindfold and that’s not as much of an insult as it sounds after seeing what he’s capable of with his eyes covered in recent days.

Having rattled an approach shot from over 130 yards between two trees and into the hole with a blindfold on recently, Harrington turned his hand to trying out the ‘run and drive’ technique made famous by Happy Gilmore in the movie of the same name, again with a blindfold on to increase the difficulty (and amount of craic) involved.

Harrington’s caddie Ronan Flood was again on hand to help out his boss – and have some fun at his expense – and while we should suggest that you shouldn’t try this at home, we’ll just say be careful if you do instead.

After all, you could break a toe fairly easily in that kind of situation if things go wrong.
