VIDEO: People of Leitrim will be playing this very special GAA poem on repeat

Tony Cuddihy

Incredible words from Séamus O’Rourke.

‘The Day Leitrim Played in Croke Park’ by Séamus O’Rourke might be aimed squarely at those from Lovely Leitrim, but there isn’t a GAA fan in the country who won’t fall in love with this.

Recounting the day that Leitrim played Dublin in the 1994 All-Ireland semi-final in Croke Park, O’Rourke goes through the routine of heading up to GAA Headquarters to face down the Dubs and the camaraderie that goes with it.

Shared on the Humans of the GAA Facebook page, if this doesn’t get the hairs on the back of your neck to stand up you might do well to check for a pulse.

“There’s more to football than winning…there’s the sandwiches, the flags and the prospect of another year.”

This is wonderful.
