Video: Player gets red card following terrible tackle and follows it up with a punch

Talk about adding insult to injury.

Talk about adding insult to injury.

The Mexican league match between Jaguares de Chiapas and Queretaro was an eventful affair with the home side winning 2-1. The big talking point, however, centred around the Queretaro midfielder Willian and a rather ‘robust’ tackle he made during the course of the game.

He was obviously feeling some levels of frustration, but this foul which resulted in a straight red card was bordering on assault. It’s the kind of frustrated kick you see down the park on a Sunday morning when men with less ability realise they have less ability and aren’t happy about it.

He was correctly given his marching orders by the ref, but he still wasn’t happy and punched one of the Jaguares players. All in all, it was a bad 60 seconds for the Queretaro midfielder and he’s probably fortunate he didn’t get two red cards.

Nice to see that one of the peace-makers on the pitch was his team-mate and all-round Brazilian footballing legend, the irrepressible Ronaldinho.
