Johnny Murtagh took a bit of a soaking yesterday, but it was all in good nature as the racing community helped fundraise for JT McNamara and Jonjo Bright.

Murtagh was dunked by his peers, though he sought a bit of retribution on a cameraman during the Limerick Charity Raceday in aid of the Jockeys Emergency Fund.

More than 70 items were auctioned off including include four tickets to next May’s sold-out One Direction concert in Croke Park, a trip for four to meet Frankel next Friday before going racing at Ascot’s Champions Day on Saturday, a lifetime use of plain grey colours and yard visits to Aidan O’Brien and Willie Mullins.

Other sports have answered the call with signed jerseys, footballs and hurleys from this year’s All-Ireland hurling final and Heineken Cup rugby tickets.

All proceeds raised from the auction will be donated to the Jockeys Emergency Fund in support of John Thomas McNamara and Jonjo Bright, two jockeys paralysed following falls in March of this year. The full list of all auction items is available on www.limerickcharityraceday.ie
