Video: Port Adelaide player makes incredible, gravity-defying catch in the AFL

Chad Wingard, take a bow. Whenever you get back to earth that is…

It’s been a weekend for incredible catches.

First, Yorkshire cricketers Aaron Lynch and Adam Lyth combined for a spectacular effort during a Natwest T20 Blast clash yesterday and earlier today, Port Adelaide’s Chad Wingard entered his effort for mark of the season with an incredible effort against St. Kilda.

Wingard used the old knee on the opponent’s back for leverage trick that’s common in the AFL (and was employed occasionally by Darragh Ó Sé back in the day) and used his full reach to grab a hold of the ball and although the landing didn’t look particularly comfortable, he was on his feet and kicking a goal in no time. Not before he cast a look of triumph towards his direct opponent, of course.

The commentators certainly loved it and so did we. Magnificent.
