Joe Canning scored 0-9 in a victory for his club side against Na Piarsaigh, but also let his temper get the better of him in the first half.
The 25-year-old Galway star was involved in a tussle with Na Piarsaigh’s David Dempsey when Canning appeared to strike his opponent with his hurl after 21 minutes.
Canning remained on the field of play and starred for his side in the 1-15 to 1-11 win, and Portumna now go on to their fifth All-Ireland club final on St. Patrick’s Day.
