But the game went on and in the 94
th minute, Real Madrid won a corner. As it was swung in, Pepe got into a tangle with Carlos Sanchez and clearly dragged the Elche player to the ground.
Incredibly, referee Cesar Muniz awarded a penalty to Madrid, which Ronaldo duly slotted home. Sanchez went mad at the final whistle and was sent off, but Carlo Ancelotti’s only comment was that Pepe told him it was definitely a penalty.

The biggest reaction came from Real’s rivals Barcelona. Gerard Pique tweeted after the game: "Watching a comedy on Canal+, they’re always good at this time of night!"
As you can see, it proved to be a very popular tweet, just shy of 50,000 RT at the moment.
