Rory McIlroy won the 96th PGA Championship late last night, but he had to do an extra bit of work before being awarded the coveted Wanamaker Trophy.
McIlroy narrowly beat Phil Mickelson by one shot to claim his second major at the Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky, last night, but the drama didn’t finish on the 18th.
During the awards presentation, McIlroy was forced to show off his cat-like reflexes after PGA of America president Ted Bishop nearly dropped the lid of the Wanamaker Trophy. Thankfully, McIlroy pulled off one his best saves of the week and managed to snatch the lid before it hit the ground.
