VIDEO: Roy Keane absolutely tore into Wayne Rooney on ITV last night

No holding back

“Last week I saw him slapping a wrestler and I’m thinking: ‘Why is he getting involved in all that nonsense?’”

Irish fans got somewhat used to seeing a new, smiley Roy Keane following Ireland’s qualification for Euro 2016 recently, but he was back to his snarly best as a pundit on ITV last night.

Keane was reacting to an insipid performance by Manchester United in their 0-0 draw with PSV Eindhoven, a result that leaves them with it all to do ahead of their final Champions League group clash away to Wolfsburg.

Keane reserved his most scathing criticism for his former teammate Wayne Rooney, who has been off-colour and the subject of plenty of derision from United fans all season.

The Ireland assistant boss took Rooney to task over his physical and mental shape, said that “he doesn’t look sharp, he looks awful” and called on him to step up to the plate at a vital time of the season for the Red Devils.

No beating around the bush as usual. Never change Roy.
