He really should have retired after this…

Sebastien Chabal has a fearsome reputation as one of rugby’s real hard men and today the former French international announced that he would play his last ever game, for Lyon, on Sunday.

Over his career the 37-year-old played 62 times for France and ‘the man they called ‘The Caveman’ spent the bulk of his pro career on the books of Sale and Racing Metro. And while this massive hit on New Zealand’s Chris Mascoe during the 2007 World Cup might be his famous on-pitch moment we prefer another one.

Yes, it was during his time at Sale that Chabal felt the full force of Paul O’Connell and the Munster pack during a match in the 2005-06 Heineken Cup at a very pumped up Thomond Park.

This clip never gets old.

Enjoy your retirement Sebastien, Paulie can’t get you now…
