The Hong Kong Sevens over the weekend produced its usual feast of fantastic, open rugby. Here’s the seven best tries of the tournament.

While the Irish men continue to ignore Sevens (sort it out IRFU) the game grows and grows. Now an Olympic sport, the Hong Kong Sevens is the annual ‘World Cup’ of Sevens and we would dearly love to see Ireland participate.

Our women are involved, and they won the Bowl Final in Hong Kong, but our men are conspicuous by their absence.

Watching this video makes it even more frustrating. Here we see lots of countries that we compete with use the format to develop players, while up-and-coming countries like Kenya use Sevens to broaden the appeal of rugby.

Anyway, with that mini-rant of my chest, lets enjoy the best that the 2013 tournament had to offer. These are the seven best tries and while they are all great, we really love the one Scotland score and the final one by Wales’ Cory Allen.

And the great Carlin Isles didn’t even make the list. Here’s his best effort from the tournament.

Hat-tip to Reddit Rugby for the video.
