We think this prize should definitely be introduced into hurling games…

A man in New Zealand is €3,000 better off today after he brilliantly caught a cricket ball over the boundary line during a recent match.

The catch happened in a game between the Otago Volts and the Wellington Firebirds and you can see in the video that the catcher, Andrew McCulloch, had a lot of ground to cover in order to make the catch and win the promotional prize, but he did it with aplomb.

He showed some cat-like reflexes to recover from a slip on the hill and still get his hand to the ball to pull off a stunning catch. We’re pretty sure the catch would have been much more comfortable if he hadn’t been going all commando with his feet but it just added to the drama.

You still haven’t heard the best part; the woman he was with in the crowd is the sister of Otago Volts player Michael Bracewell, who hit the cricket ball in the first place.

A mighty fine coincidence, we must say. Mighty fine indeed…
