Video: Mass brawl erupts at the end of Gloucester v Bath Aviva Premiership clash

It wasn’t quite on the same level as Mayo v Meath in the 1996 All-Ireland Final but it was rowdy enough all the same.

Major dust-ups involving several players from both sides isn’t something you see that often in rugby these days, but mass brawls do happen occasionally and the one that broke out at the end of Gloucester’s Aviva Premiership clash with Bath yesterday was pretty chaotic to say the least.

With less than two minutes left on the clock, Bath were awarded a penalty try that put them a point ahead and eventually ensured victory, but the decision to award the try was followed by a shemozzle that resulted in the dismissal of Gloucester’s Tavis Knoyle amidst a spate of cards handed out in the second half, two red cards and two yellows to Gloucester players and  three yellow cards to players from Bath.

Knoyle can clearly be seen throwing two punches at Leroy Houston and can have no complaints about his red card and with cards having already been thrown out like confetti, the final stages saw the farcical situation of 12 players against 11 after incidents that could have further repercussions for both sides following a forthcoming RFU investigation.

Can’t they all just get along?
