Not only did the multi-talented Sonny Bill Williams pick up the Rugby League Player of the Year last night, his Kiwi team-mates launched into the Haka during the ceremony.

Williams has been recognised for the huge impact he has had on the game since switching back from union and on Saturday will aim to become the first ever player to win the World Cup in both codes when the New Zealand take on Australia.

Williams broke up an Australian stranglehold on the trophy – the last five winners have been Aussies – but the most surprising element was the fact his fellow Kiwis performed the Haka during the ceremony, in their finest threads.

Still an impressive sight.
