If you’ve been to Bolivia, you’ll know that it is home to some treacherous roads. This is probably the most terrifying we’ve seen yet.

The roads in Bolivia are dangerous enough without filling them with a load of potentially damaging obstacles but extreme downhill cycling isn’t called exactly that for no reason.

What you’ll see in the video above – taken from a camera mounted on the helmet of eventual winner Filip Polc – is the trail faced by contestants at the 2012 Red Bull Descenso del Condor urban downhill race in La Paz Bolivia recently.

The trail started in the city of El Alto, over four kilometres above sea level, and finished 1.6 kilometres later in La Paz, which is just the three and a half kilometres above sea level, with Polc finishing 14 seconds ahead of the field after expertly negotiating the track and all the deadly man-made obstacles along the way.

Those of you with a fear of heights might find it a little tough to watch, but Polc’s fearless exploits deserve to be appreciated.

Check it out for yourself in the video above.

Hat tip to James Dart for the video.
