Video: The brilliant Trevor Giles sleveless Meath jersey sketch from Second Captains Live

This takes us back

Officially the greatest GAA accessory of all time.

GAA fans of the late 1990s will never forget the sight of Meath legend Trevor Giles parading around Croke Park in a sleeveless Kepak jersey.

In terms of its impact in GAA circles, it was akin to when Bob Dylan went electric for the very first time.

That jersey was deservedly named as the greatest GAA accessory of all time on Second Captains Live last week amid fierce competition.

And we don’t say that lightly, either; Colm O’Rourke’s massive knee bandage and Pat Spillane’s famous farmer’s tan were only runners-up and Willie Joe Padden’s makeshift head bandage didn’t even make the list.

To mark the victory, Ciaran Murphy of Second Captains Live paid a visit to Giles’ hometown of Skyrne in Meath in an attempt to discover the inspiration behind the famous sleeveless Kepak jersey and the impact it had on his life thereafter.

Even if you’ve seen it already, it’s well worth another look.
