Featuring Mike Denver. Yes THE Mike Denver.
The All-Ireland hurling final is less than a fortnight away and we all know what that means: loads and loads of special one-off songs from the respective counties to create some buzz ahead of the big day.
GAA songs tend not to be masterpieces but mostly fall into the so-terrible-they’re-somehow-good category and a classic of the genre has emerged from Galway group Hot Fuss in recent days.
Set to the tune of Status Quo’s Rockin’ All Over the World, this one is called ‘Galway Boys Are Ready to Hurl’ and it’s not so much the lyrics that catch the attention, more so the amount of sheer craic the lads in the video are having in the background.
Shouldering each other repeatedly, playing air guitar with hurleys, what’s not to like?
Still, it has a bit to go before reaching the level of the best GAA song to emerge from the county, nay, the country, in the last 50 years…
