Conor Murray and Tommy O’Donnell seemed particularly giddy.
Loads of Irish people got up in the wee hours of this morning to watch Conor McGregor kick Chad Mendes’ ass and the Irish rugby team were no different.
Although they’ve just started their preparations for the Rugby World Cup a little later this year, they were allowed (or they snuck downstairs without Joe Schmidt’s permission) watch the fight and the reaction to McGregor’s victory was captured by Tommy Bowe on his Instagram page.
Amid much shouts of ‘G’wan’, particularly from Conor Murray and Tommy O’Donnell, there’s Jonny Sexton looking as composed and focused as he would over a last-minute kick to win the World Cup itself.
Great to see the Irish rugby lads supporting another Irish sportsman with such gusto; hopefully Conor has reason to do likewise in a couple of months’ time.
