There’s no promises to get James Horan tattoos in this one, but there is a touching vigil to the stricken Colm Cooper.
By our last count last September, there were nigh on 17,000 songs composed to celebrate Mayo’s most recent unsuccessful bid for the All-Ireland title, but one stood out head and shoulders above the rest.
It was put together by Chris Duffy and Dave Gallagher from Castlebar and with local club Castlebar Mitchels lining up for a tilt at the All-Ireland club final when they play St. Vincent’s on Monday, the talented duo have had the opportunity to showcase their musical talents yet again.
Like the song about their county, their song about their local town is a catchy number with references to practically every member on the panel, the aforementioned vigil to the Gooch and, eh, bodhran player Darragh "Billy Noonan" Healy, pretending to play the bongos using the heads of Chris and Dave.
Whatever works for ye lads, we're sure it will be sung loud and often from now until Monday and for weeks afterwards if the Mayo men do the business.
Hat-tip to Etienne Clairemente for sending this one our way
