Former Wales and Lions great and BBC broadcaster Cliff Morgan passed away overnight and we can’t think of a more fitting tribute than to listen to his commentary on the greatest try of all time.

Morgan, 83, passed away in the Isle of Wight – where he lived with his wife in recent years – overnight after a long battle with illness.

Morgan represented Wales, the British and Irish Lions and the Barbarians during a distinguished rugby career, before embarking on a broadcasting career with the BBC, initially covering rugby and sport before expanding into current affairs and other areas.

Morgan will primarily be remembered for his contribution to rugby commentating, not least his take on the greatest try of all time scored by Gareth Edwards for the Barbarians against the All-Blacks in 1973. “What a score!”

He’ll be sadly missed.
