St. Patrick’s Day parades in rural Irish towns might be all about having a laugh on the back of a slow-moving tractor and trailer but in big cities abroad, they’re important for showcasing what’s best about Ireland to a wider audience.
And there are few things better to showcase than hurling, as the Irish Sports and social group in Vancouver proved when showing it off to crowds attending the St. Patrick’s Day parade in the Canadian city at the weekend.
Robert Dumphy (Kilkenny), Nicky Roberts (Carlow) and Robert Mawe from Cork had a puck around in the parade on Sunday and by the looks of things, their touch certainly hasn’t deserted them during their time abroad.
