Video: These LIT students’ impersonations of Joe Brolly and Micheál Ó Muircheartaigh are very funny

The two men might beg to differ if they heard them, but we think they’re pretty much on the ball.

The two men might beg to differ if they heard them, but we think they’re pretty much on the ball.

The Limerick IT Fitzgibbon team are obviously talented hurlers as they showed en route to an agonising defeat to WIT in the Fitzgibbon Cup final earlier this month, but it seems as if their talents aren’t limited to their ability with a hurley and sliotar.

Certainly at least one of them, Limerick’s Barry O’Connell, does a pretty mean Joe Brolly impersonation, something he illustrated alongside fellow LIT man Paddy Heenan, whose version of Ó Muircheartaigh isn’t half bad either, in a recent video discussion about the Fitzgibbon Cup that Paddy was good enough to send our way.

The video itself was filmed by Clare All-Ireland winner Jamie Shanahan and we certainly enjoyed it, as we imagine will a lot of GAA fans out there who have heard the voices of the two men mentioned over the years.

If RTE are ever looking for a crew to do an Aprés Match-style GAA sketch show during this summer’s championship they know who to call.

Hat-tip to Paddy Heenan himself for sending this one our way
