To be fair, it wasn’t that far away…

A prop has a certain set of skills and if they execute them properly they can be as influential as any player on the rugby pitch. John Hayes, Cian Healy, Tendai Mtawarira etc all spring to mind.

One skill that’s not on a prop’s CV is kicking but try telling that to Wales and Cardiff Blues front row star Adam Jones. Jones was in the Cardiff team that faced Munster in the Guinness PRO12 on Saturday and he almost pulled off something very special.

Cardiff were awarded a penalty in the closing stages of the game and the tight-head used the advantage to channel his inner ROG/Ian Keatley and went for an audacious drop goal attempt. His laugh after says it all, cheeky stuff from Jones…
